Tooth Removal
(Extractions)
We can help provide a painfree, affordable and comfortable tooth removal service.
Our Tooth Removal Services
Simple Extraction
They are often quick procedures and can be completed on the day. Usually x-rays are needed and a few diagnostic tests beforehand to ensure there are no other underlying issues. At 7 Day Dentists we can provide a pain-free simple tooth extraction on the day to eliminate any problems caused by the tooth.
Surgical Extraction
A more complex procedure than simple extractions. Often the tooth or surrounding area has an abnormal appearance or the tooth may be difficult to access like for impacted teeth. This usually takes longer and will often need to be booked in advanced. X-rays and other tests are necessary to ensure a safe and effective removal of the tooth. Our experienced clinicians can accurately assess the tooth to determine whether a surgical method is required to deliver the tooth with minimal complications.
Wisdom Teeth
With over 25 years of experience treating hundreds of wisdom teeth removal cases, our dentist can provide an affordable and comfortable service to remove unwanted wisdom teeth at the clinic. We will provide comprehensive instructions on post-treatment care for uneventful healing during the few days post surgery. We also have a dedicated network of specialists for those who prefer a general anaesthetic and hospital visit for this procedure.
Baby Teeth
Most baby teeth can fall out naturally and is usually preferred as baby teeth are essential for optimal jaw growth. It may be better to remove baby teeth if are stubborn or are interfering with the child's development. Wobbly teeth are more simple, whereas teeth with an intact root may need more time and a different technique to remove. Our clinicians understand that tooth removal may be intimidating for some children. We have child friendly tips and tricks to help children understand and complete the treatment with confidence. Some of our kids even look forward to coming back for another visit.
Our knowledgable clinicians can remove an unwanted and troublesome tooth in a pain-free manner at affordable prices.

Cases Requiring Tooth Removal
If possible, keeping our natural teeth is usually the best option. But when the disadvantages outweigh the benefits, the tooth should be removed. Here are some examples of the cases when removal should be considered:
Decayed Teeth (cavities): deep decay can create an infection that can lead to tooth pulp necrosis (death). If the infection spreads outside the root it can become life threatening if not treated in time.
Severe Gum Disease: when a significant amount of jaw bone is lost around a tooth it has no support and cannot function normally. This can be painful and cause damage to the remaining teeth.
Chipped and Cracked Teeth: occurs from excessive chewing, other forces that weaken the tooth and can fracture the tooth roots. Fractured roots are prone to infection and other complications.
Impacted Teeth: are difficult to clean, trap food and bacteria more than well aligned teeth. Those that are stuck in the bone may develop a cyst (infection) over time that can permanently damage the surrounding area.
Crowding: the teeth size and shape may not fit will with the jaw, and vice versa. Sometimes removal is recommended for orthodontics (braces) to create more space. Those that are severely out of place can scratch against the gums, on the inside of cheeks or the tongue causing bleeding and tenderness. Keeping crowded teeth clean is more of a struggle and can increase the risk of decay if not looked after well.
Over-retained Baby Teeth: deciduous (baby) teeth that are still attached to the gum when the adult tooth is already growing should be removed as soon as possible. The stuck baby tooth can block the path of the adult tooth, causing the new tooth to grow in an unideal direction. It can also trap more food and plaque which increases the risk of developing cavities.
Trauma: tooth trauma can show signs and symptoms of poor pulp health years after the initial accident. If the pulp becomes infected it may cause damage to the surrounding gums and bone if not treated soon enough.

Tooth Removal Aftercare
General Care
The gums and bone take a few weeks heal and fill the space left from the extracted tooth. During healing it is normal to feel a dip or hole in the area where the tooth was taken out.
For at least 30 minutes after the extraction it is best not to eat, drink or rinse your mouth to allow a blood clot to form. For the next 24 hours it is recommended to eat softer foods and brush gently around the extraction area.
Baby Teeth
Baby teeth that have lost most of their roots do not require as much extra care as extracted adult teeth. It is best to not drink for at least 15 minutes after the tooth is removed. It may feel sore for a few minutes after being removed, but afterwards eating and drinking is as normal. Brush more gently around the area for the next few days to allow the gums to heal.
Replacement Options
Losing a tooth can make it difficult to eat and talk. Over time the surrounding teeth and bone can shift, potentially causing other problems. To avoid these future issues, replacing the tooth as soon as possible is ideal. Our knowledgable dental clinicians can provide advice on the available options to help decide which is best for you.
Maintaining Our Oral Health
Brushing correctly twice a day and cleaning between teeth at least once daily is the best way to take care of our teeth. Limiting sugary and acidic foods will slow down the damage from plaque. Drinking water after every meal and snack to wash away the sugar and food debris will help too.harder foods as it may crack if not looked after properly.
It is best to book regular appointments with your dental provider to uncover any abnormalities that may cause future and current damage and take preventative action before it becomes difficult and more costly to treat.
